Cologne is Germany's fourth-largest city and is the largest city within the Rhine-Ruhr Metropolitan Area, one of the major European metropolitan areas with more than ten million inhabitants. Cologne has already been the subject of several multi-hazard, multi-risk studies, and therefore is particularly suitable as a test case in a data-rich country. Extensive, high-resolution dataset coverage is available for Cologne, including, in addition to major Copernicus products, high-resolution ortho-photos and 3D LiDAR point clouds. The SENSUM consortium will benefit from the already available data-sets and studies for accuracy assessment and statistical cross-validation. This test site will also be used to assess the usability of the proposed approaches to flood hazard.
