Cross-border area comprised between Isfara and Batken (Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan). The selected area is located at the border among Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, belonging to the south-Ferghana seismogenic zone. Earthquakes up to magnitude 7 can originate here, therefore posing a serious threat to the local settlements. The area is mountainous and susceptible to landslides and rock-falls. Despite its presumably high vulnerability, almost no datasets are available, therefore taking it an optimal test-site from a data-poor perspective. Being of common interest for the selected end-users in Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, strong cross-border cooperation and coordination is sought at the scientific as well as at the stake-holder level.
